HOW TO ELOPE IN BOSTON!

Charlestown, MA Elopement

So, you’ve met your soulmate and have decided that a big, traditional wedding isn’t your jam?  Let’s face it - wedding planning is stressful, there are so many expectations and the pressure that couples face to appease those around them can become overwhelming.  That’s where I come in!  I’m Erin of Boston, your go to guide to getting hitched in the city, easily and without any stress.  Keep reading to find out how.

  1. Pick a date and do the dang thing! If you want to get married Monday - Friday, choose any city hall in Boston (which already have JPS). If you want to elope on a Saturday or Sunday, hire someone to become ordained. It can be your funny uncle, a family member, a friend - or myself! I’m ordained and ready to marry you. As a reminder, elopements are typically 15 people max.

  2. Apply for a marriage license. Licenses are only good to use for 60 days in Massachusetts from the date you applied. You also can't use the marriage license outside of Massachusetts. You have to get married in the state.

    1. It costs $50 to apply.

    2. After your appointment, your license will be issued and put in the mail three days later. Or, you can come back after the three-day wait.

    3. You need to know who’s marrying you when applying for your license.

    4. The person who performed the ceremony needs to complete the marriage license and mail it to the city:

REGISTRY DIVISION

1 CITY HALL SQUARE, ROOM 213

BOSTON, MA 02201-2006

  1. After the wedding, if you want a copy of your marriage certificate it’s $12 in person and $14 by mail.

  2. Get creative. You don’t have to take photos at city hall and go home for the day. We can venture to the Seaport, go to the Arboretum, stroll around the city streets and snap frames inside your favorite dinner spot or, hit up Bunker Hill, enjoy the rose gardens at Fenway - you name it, we can do it.

Let me lead you through the elopement process - I’ll be your guide, your friend, your go to bestie.  I’m here for you, every step of the way.  XO- Erin

Diversity & Inclusion Statement

When picking a business to work with, many look for those who have similar values. It’s important for me to let my clients know what’s important to me and what I value.

Black lives matter, no questions asked. The unjust killings and imprisonment of Black people must end.

Boston is a melting pot. According to the US Census, 25.3% of Boston’s population is Black and another 9.6% is Asian. It’s important to me that everyone is represented when showcasing love around Boston.

There are so many beautiful people from all walks of life. How anyone could harbor hate toward anyone is beyond me.

You are no less of a human being because of your race, sexuality, identity, disability, or religion.

Love is love. This is an LGBTQ+ friendly space. The only requirement I have is you be in love. If you are in love I will absolutely photograph you.

Accessibility is important for many reasons. It’s supposed to be a stress-free day and the last thing I want you to worry about is limited access to where we’re working.

I want you to be comfortable while we work together. It’s a judgment-free zone where you are free to be yourself. Expressing yourself is important and I want you to do so freely.

It’s important to me that you know where I stand, so you never have to hold your back when expressing yourself.

With love,

Erin

Weddings and Covid-19

Hello Brides,

I hope wedding planning has been going smoothly! I wanted to write in light of the recent coronavirus outbreak updates. I know how stressful wedding planning can be, and this certainly doesn’t help!

I wanted to assure you that I have every intention of fulfilling my role at your wedding and that my business and I are prepared. I’m staying updated on the latest information from the CDC, the WHO and local and state authorities; acting responsibly by avoiding travel to outbreak hotspots; practicing social distancing by holding most meetings online instead of in person; swapping hugs for a friendly wave; and, last but not least, practicing good hand hygiene. Additionally, I’m making sure that all of my clients know what to expect from me as per contract.

I’d love to know how you’re feeling about the situation. If there any questions or concerns about your event I can help address? Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thanks,

Erin
